Why does my tinea versicolor look worse after tanning?
Tinea versicolor isn’t exacerbated with tanning. It’s only more noticeable after tanning because the yeast prevents the patches from tanning so the skin around it darkens, making the patches look more obvious. If you’re eager for your skin to return to its base tone, avoid sun exposure and tanning, recommends Dr. Kellie Reed, a board-certified dermatologist at Westlake Dermatology in Austin, Texas.
