Does waxing cause more ingrown hairs than shaving?
Waxing can cause ingrown hairs, but waxing removes hairs deep in their follicles, whereas shaving literally scratches the surface, which causes inflammation and can break the skin, which can lead to infections that can really get in the way of the hair inside. So to some extent, waxing might not trigger as many ingrown hairs, though it hasn’t been clinically studied. In both cases, the hair is continuing to grow, risking an ingrown hair and requiring the same exfoliation/moisturization treatment and care.
